On successful completion of the First Year Constable Program, a Constable is expected to serve a minimum of three years at a police station working in General Duties.
This placement provides exposure to and an understanding of the core business of the Queensland Police Service.
Experience in General Duties police work provides the appropriate skills to seek advancement or a position in a specialist area.
As well as the immense diversity in General Duties police work, there are a number of specialised areas with positions located throughout the State.
These positions are selected on merit, therefore, before applying for any specialist areas, it is important that a full understanding of the policing role and the necessary knowledge and skills to be a professional and competent police officer is obtained.
