    Celebrating diversity

As an equal opportunity employer, the QPS recognises that modern policing in a culturally diverse society requires officers who reflect the state's gender, cultural, linguistic and regional diversity.

We do this by embracing inclusion and diversity within all of our workplaces to build cultures and values that reflect the way we do business.

Inclusion refers to the way our culture and behaviour make a person feel valued, included and welcome; where they are treated fairly, respectfully and with equal access to opportunities.

Diversity includes age, ethnicity, gender, disability, cultural background, sexual orientation, education, socioeconomic background, faith, marital status, family responsibilities, thinking and work styles. Inclusive and diverse workplaces benefit from:

    • increased productivity and performance
    • better decision making through balance of thinking
    • better client service and
    • an engaged and resilient workforce.

By creating fully inclusive and diverse workplaces, we are an agile and innovative organisation that is an employer of choice.

  • LGBTIQ+ Liaison Officers

    Supporting LGBTIQ+ communities

The QPS is committed to ensuring policing services are accessible to all members of the community. Police work closely with the LGBTIQ+ communities to develop partnerships, awareness and understanding of impacting issues.

The QPS LGBTIQ+ Liaison Program provides a professional, non-discriminatory, accessible policing service to members of the LGBTIQ+ communities.

    This is achieved by:

    • developing an awareness and understanding of LGBTIQ+ communities
    • developing partnerships with LGBTIQ+ communities
    • ensuring equality, accountability and professionalism in our contact with LGBTIQ+ communities and
    • improving service delivery to LGBTIQ+ communities.

As part of the LGBTIQ+ Liaison Program, a number of police officers are dedicated LGBTIQ+ liaison officers. These officers are located throughout the state and undertake the role in addition to their regular duties. Liaison officers can provide support and assistance to LGBTIQ+ community members when dealing with police matters.

It is important to note that all police related issues or complaints from LGBTIQ+ community members can be reported to any police officer or via PoliceLink.

If however you wish to speak to an LGBTIQ+ liaison officer, please advise the officer taking your complaint or contact PoliceLink on 131 444 who will identify a liaison officer in your local area.
